Headteacher’s Message

It is a great privilege to write to you as the Head Teacher of Kingswood Nursery School. I have over twenty years’ experience of teaching, and advising, in schools and a range of Early Years settings; I continue to marvel at how young children can flourish when provided with the best possible starting points. High quality early learning, built upon a positive relationship with families, provides the foundation young children require to become independent, self-regulating, resilient and sociable, and prepares them for the next stage in their school careers.

Kingswood Nursery School has a wonderful community spirit where people really care. The wellbeing of the children is at the heart of the school; ensuring that their needs, and those of their families and carers, can be met. There is a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere here, where diversity is celebrated, and mutual respect fostered.

These core values underpin everything we do at Kingswood:

Safe and Secure– Everyone’s safety and wellbeing is our priority.

  • Children are at the heart of everything we do – Childhood is valued, each child is seen as unique, competent and capable.
  • Respect –  Everybody is respected, valued and listened to
  • Ambition – To provide the best outcome for every child in a learning community.
  • Active learning– An inspiring environment in which children are involved in their own development and learning.
  • Financially sound– Finances are managed to ensure good value for money.

The first five years of a child’s life form the foundations from which all future progress is built on; they prepare children for future learning and success. Children’s early years experiences should be happy, active, exciting, fun, safe and secure, and support their development, care and learning needs. This is reflected in our bespoke 5 Ways to Wow Curriculum. Children at Kingswood are immersed in planned and spontaneous opportunities that nurture these qualities, throughout the day, supported by knowledgeable, experienced and sensitive adults.

At Kingswood we recognise how unique each child is; no two children learn and develop in exactly the same way, and all progress at different rates. Each and every child is valued, and no concern is too small. Please talk to us about any aspect of your child’s welfare, wellbeing or development; by working together the results will have a positive impact on your child’s development and learning.

We were extremely proud to remain ‘Outstanding’  when Ofsted visited in April 2023. The report stated: ‘Children thrive because of the strong focus on care and nurture. They are known and valued as individuals; because of this they feel secure and have high levels of confidence and self esteem.’

We strive to nurture positive relationships with our parents and carers, working collaboratively to achieve the very best outcomes for children.

Please take the time to explore our website so that you can appreciate the ‘essence’ of Kingswood, and understand what we can provide for your child. I look forward to meeting you and working alongside you as parents, and thank you for entrusting us to play such a vital part in your children’s lives, during these formative years.

Best wishes,
Clare Macdonald
